Neversoft added the manual and custom parks to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, extending a timed trick run into linked lines. A manual balances between grinds so the score does not drop when the skater leaves a rail.
The design reached players in 2000, with the Nintendo 64 version following the PlayStation one. Real skaters still fill the roster, and a created park can be the whole session once the goals in a real city are done.
The Game Boy Color edition is a separate flat game, not a shrink of those 3D lines. Manuals, the park editor, and the Nintendo 64 goals belong to the console design, not to that handheld card.
