Oil slicks, smoke, and missiles arm the car in Spy Hunter (1983), Bally Midway's overhead highway set to a Peter Gunn-style theme. A weapons van drops the next armament if the driver can meet it without crashing.
The theme and the van are as famous as the guns. Boats and cars both appear as the road changes, and the oil is for the pursuers behind.
The NES port keeps the overhead highway combat of the arcade cabinet. The Peter Gunn-style music, the smoke screen, and the weapons van are the cabinet's signature, carried onto the cartridge.
