History

Flying traffic over a future Manhattan is what survived of a canceled movie license in New York Race. Kalisto's 2001 futuristic racer began as a Fifth Element game and shipped without that film's name, so Leeloo and Korben never became the official drivers.

Lanes stacked above streets, a boost, and rival craft replace yellow cabs. The skyline is still recognizably New York, which is the joke of a tie-in that had to drop the film and keep the city.

Luc Besson's picture had the multipass and the opera singer; the released racer has neither on the box. What remains is the traffic in the air and Kalisto's decision to ship the city anyway.
