History

Autolog taunts turn pursuits into a social race in Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, the 2010 reboot Criterion made of the police-chase idea. Racers and cops share weapons, spike strips, and a county full of long coastal roads, and the online log posts who just busted whom.

Seacrest County is the map, and a pursuit can flip from fleeing a helicopter to driving the interceptor. The motion-console version was built around that console's controllers, so the same chase fantasy uses the remote's input rather than a standard pad layout copied blindly.

This reboot is not the earlier Hot Pursuit 2, which had its own teams and its own year. Autolog and the weapons-on-both-sides design belong to this Criterion game.
