Glitches are weapons, and Axiom Verge is the Metroidvania Tom Happ built alone around a scientist who can corrupt the world. Trace's glitch gun can turn a turret into a platform, which is a key as much as a weapon.
Trace fires ordinary guns, then a glitch gun that rewrites an enemy or a block into something else. Sudra's ruined labs hide upgrades behind those corruptions, so a wall may be a door only after it is deliberately broken.
A successor-console version followed the computer and PlayStation 4 releases in 2015, glitch gun included. Backtracking still depends on a new tool, except here that tool might be a useful bug.
