A Drop gauge swaps who you guide between Sora and Riku in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, the Square Enix exam set in sleeping worlds in 2012. The pair are sitting the Mark of Mastery. Dream Eaters serve as allies and as enemies, and Flowmotion turns wall runs and swings into the way fights travel.
When the gauge empties, the boy in your hands falls asleep and the other wakes on a route of his own. Portals join familiar worlds that have slipped into sleep. Abilities live on a command deck triggered in real time.
Flowmotion can bridge a gap or stretch a combo, and it can also fling the character off a ledge if the move is held too long. Dream Eaters can be created, fed, and brought along with skills of their own. Judges of the exam, and figures waiting inside the dreams, push events past a sightseeing tour of those worlds.
Square Enix is the studio credited with the exam. Finishing it means keeping both boys alive on their separate routes until the story locks them back together.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
